FAQs

Is the tour private or part of a group?

This tour is completely private. We all the activities and experiences you are on your own but will make plenty of friends along the way. If required, the tours and activities can be adjusted to cater for your needs.

When is the best time to travel?

Colombia is a year-round tourist destination, where prices and crowds peak mainly around public holidays rather than specific seasons. Here’s a general guide to help you plan:

Bogotá: Located in the highlands, Bogotá has a cool, spring-like climate year-round with daily showers, but the dry season from December to March is preferable.

Cocora Valley: The Cocora Valley near Salento sees some rain throughout the year due to its lush landscape. December to March and July to September are the driest months, ideal for hiking.

Medellín and Cannúa Lodge: Medellín is known as the “City of Eternal Spring,” with warm, mild temperatures year-round. However, December to March and July to September are drier.

Santa Marta: The best weather for Santa Marta and nearby beaches is from December to April, which is the dry season with sunny skies, minimal rainfall, and lower humidity.

Cartagena and Rosario Islands: December to April offers sunny, dry weather ideal for beach days and island visits.

Is there big changes in the weather and temperature for different parts of the tour?

Temperature and rainfall fluctuations in Colombia are largely influenced by changes in elevation. In the western region, much of which is covered by the Andes Mountains, temperatures drop approximately 3.5°F for every 1,000-foot increase in altitude. This means that the hot temperatures found at sea level gradually cool as elevation rises.

Are there any seasons in Colombia?

Colombia's close proximity to the Equator means it doesn’t experience four distinct seasons as in other regions. Instead, seasons are defined more by changes in rainfall than temperature. The year is marked by two main periods: the rainy season, which typically occurs from April to May and October to November, and the dry season, usually from December to January and July to August, though these periods can vary significantly.
