Why Colombia Adventure holidays in 2025?
Carol, founder and CEO at Not in the Guidebooks, recently took a trip to Colombia. Carol’s Colombia adventure saw her venture off-the-beaten-path, meeting with indigenous communities and local Colombians. What struck Carol most was ‘how welcoming the people are and how united they are in supporting each other and helping each other rebuild the country’.
Colombia has come a long way since the Peace Agreement in 2016, and while there is still work to be done, it is the perfect time to begin exploring Colombia. Colombia is quickly becoming one of the most up-and-coming destinations for people who love adventure and immersive experiences.
We believe that Colombia is, and definitely should be the next destination on your list. The country has seen a huge rise in popularity for adventure tourists, its location in South America makes it perfect for wildlife holidays, eco-holidays, adventure holidays and so much more! We are excited that people are looking to newer, less popular destinations both from an environmental standpoint and because it means the local Colombian people can benefit more from tourism! So, if Colombia sounds like your kind of holiday, check out our holiday itinerary.

What can you do there?
Our Ultimate Journey Through Colombia is a holiday itinerary that is designed to help you get the most out of your trip. You will follow in Carol’s footsteps and begin your journey in Bogotá, the ‘beating heart of Colombia’. While there you will marvel at the Spanish colonial architecture and the way the city meets with the surrounding forest. You will also be able to visit the gold museum and learn about some of Colombia’s fascinating history. Like Carol, the thing that you’ll really take from Bogota will be the people, they’re so friendly and considerate of your experience, you’ll really feel at home on the other side of the world.
After Bogota you’ll venture across the country, with tours of the famous coffee region, the breathtaking views of Cocora Valley & Salento before you reach Medellin, the next city on your agenda. Being in Medellin’s Comuna 8 you’ll really have the chance to meet some of the people that have turned the neighbourhood into a thriving community. There is so much to see in Comuna 8, and with us you’ll have the chance to meet and speak with locals and really immerse yourself in the traditions of Colombia.
There is also opportunity for excitement with our river tubing activity. Jump into a rubber ring and float down the Don Diego River, which is as exciting as it is relaxing and you drift along the river. Your adventure will end at the mouth of the Caribbean Sea where you’ll enjoy a picnic by the shore, savouring local flavours and reflecting on the day’s wonders.
