Just 5 minutes from stunning beaches, you can stay in a fantastic surf hostel in Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands – a location that offers anything from long rolling waves for beginners to perfect offshore peaks for more advanced surfers.

Besides your lessons each day, surfboards can be hired so that you can practice your new-found surfing skills in your free time during your Spanish surfing holiday.

Go surfing in the home of European water sports on this great value holiday!

2. Biarritz, France

The legendary Côte des Basques right on the Atlantic Ocean is home to the infamous surf town of Biarritz. Biarritz cemented its place on the surfing history books when it became the first place in Europe to open a surf school in 1966 – and that surf school remains on its beach to this very day.

With waves rolling in year-round, Biarritz is the perfect spot for beginners. But if the waves are ever considered too ‘fat’, surf lessons often take place at nearby Hendaye beach.  A holiday here even offers the opportunity to combine surfing with French lessons.

3. Sligo, Ireland

Bet you didn’t expect to see this one here! Sligo is tucked away on Ireland’s north-west coast but just happens to have one of the best surf beaches in the world.

Strandhill is a small unassuming coastal town with a stunning long stretch of sandy beach and excellent waves coming in from the Atlantic Ocean.

Surfing conditions are fantastic all year round, which makes it an ideal location to surf without the crowds – even in the summer months.

Why not choose to take some lessons at this surf school in Sligo while you are there? You’ll be learning to surf with instructor, Seamus, an ex-professional bodyboarder.

4. Peniche, Portugal

Portugal’s surf capital, Peniche, provides quality waves all year round and within a 15km radius, you may find over 20 different wave conditions to suit all levels and surfing experience.

It’s easy to get to too – only 90 minutes north of Lisbon – yet a world away from the lively capital city.

The conditions are so good that in the past it was selected for WCT ASP World Surf Tour and Rip Curl Pro Search. Surf holidays are available here with a local surf school run by two brothers, who also happen to own the beach bar.

Choose this surf holiday and you’ll stay for 7 nights in a fantastic surf hostel less than a 5-minute walk from the beach and during your week you will have 10 hours of surf tuition with highly qualified, experienced surf instructors.
