Your adventure begins as you land in Kajaani in the Arctic Lakeland of Finland. Your resort is located in Finland’s Kainuu region, renowned for its abundant snowfall, often boasting the highest in the country. The resort’s snow reliability ensures a long ski season and enough snow for all the winter snow activities that typically lasts from the beginning of December until the end of April. This remote resort is a small ski area with 5 lifts and 15 slopes suitable for beginners and intermediates, so why not give it a try whilst you are here?

With clear skies and the right conditions, you will be able to witness nature’s most spectacular light show, the aurora borealis, all from the comfort of your cosy accommodation.

Take part in thrilling activities, from rushing along snow-covered tracks and frozen fells on a husky sled, to exhilarating snowmobiling escapades across the expansive wilderness. By nightfall, savour the serenity of your panoramic view accommodation and witness the enchanting Northern Lights gracefully dancing above.

The main building is located beside the frozen lake and includes the reception, restaurant, the apartments and ‘sauna world’ with its indoor and outdoor jacuzzis, nine saunas, a gym and a spa and a poolside bar/cafe. There is even a bowling alley on site.

The glass walled cabins are located on the top of the hill with wonderful panoramic views, but only 5 minutes drive by shuttle bus to the bottom of the slopes and main building, or for skiers you can ski in and ski out (the last lift is at 7pm) The chalet apartments include a kitchenette, have panoramic windows, and are conveniently located in the main building with views over the frozen lake

Arrival in the Arctic

On arrival at Kajaani airport you will be met by your driver and taken to your resort in the Kainuu region of Arctic Lakeland, enjoy the winter views of enchanting snow covered pine forests as you drive to your remote resort and arrive at your very own cabin at the top of the slopes with amazing panoramic views, or your cosy apartment conveniently located at the bottom of the slopes with expansive views over the frozen lake.

Take some time to settle in, unpack or explore your surroundings and enjoy a delicious dinner. With any luck, you may witness the breathtaking Northern Lights on your very first night.

Husky Safari and Fat Biking

This morning after a good breakfast in the restaurant you will be collected for your transfer to the husky kennels.

You will have a briefing from the team and learn how to mush the sleds. One person will sit in the sled and the other will be mushing – at half way you can swap over. You will travel at speed as the eager dogs take you across the snowy terrain, and at the end of your exhilarating ride you can meet the dogs and reward them with a tummy rub. Warm drinks will be provided before you return to the resort.

In the afternoon relax or enjoy some of  the resorts other facilities, like skiing or fat biking (extra charge).

For ultimate relaxation, indulge in one of the resort’s nine distinctive saunas, take a refreshing dip in the indoor pool, or soak in the outdoor hot tub under the crisp winter sky.

This evening, savour a delicious dinner at the restaurant before retreating to your accommodation , where hopefully you will be treated to the enchanting sight of the Northern Lights dancing above in the night sky

Snow mobiling Fun

Today after a hearty breakfast you will be collected for your exhilarating snowmobiling safari, where you’ll drive through breathtaking Arctic winter forests and across a frozen river, fully immersed in the beauty of Lappish nature.

Follow your guide along scenic trails, with stops along the way to capture stunning photos and hear fascinating insights about life in Lapland. Don’t forget to keep your camera ready—every turn offers a picture-perfect moment!

You will ride on a two person snowmobile with the options to take turns at driving (drivers must have a driving license).

For those seeking a solo adventure, a single rider supplement can be added at checkout for an extra thrill.

This afternoon is yours to enjoy at your own pace. Whether you choose to unwind in the comfort of your glass-walled cabin or cosy apartment,  or explore more of the Arctic wilderness by snowshoe, arctic skis or fat bikes which can be arranged locally.

You can even take to your downhill skis and enjoy the 15 kms of  piste around the resort, suitable for beginners and intermediate skiers. (equipment and passes can be booked separately).

In the evening you will meet your guide for a snow shoeing adventure in the Finnish winter wonderland, in search of the Northern Lights.

Strap on your snowshoes and  step into a pristine, snow-covered wonderland, where the only sounds are the crunch of fresh powder beneath your snowshoes in the silent darkness.

You take your first steps into the silent, untouched landscape, surrounded by towering snow-laden pines and rolling fells.

Your guide will leads you on a gentle yet thrilling route, navigating through winding forest trails and open tundra. Along the way, they will share fascinating stories about the local Sámi culture, the resilient Arctic wildlife, and the secrets of survival in this extreme yet beautiful environment.

If conditions are right, the northern sky erupts in a breathtaking display of the Aurora Borealis—dancing ribbons of green, purple, and blue that seem to whisper across the heavens. Standing there, snowshoes keeping you balanced on the soft powder, you feel a deep connection to nature and the wild Arctic spirit.

With hearts full and spirits lifted, you trek back to the lodge, glowing from both the exercise and the sheer exhilaration of your adventure. Whether it’s your first time snowshoeing or just your first time in the Arctic, this experience will leave you craving more snowy adventures.

Today is your final morning in Arctic Lakeland. Wake up at a leisurely time  (check-out isn’t until 11 am), and enjoy a final breakfast as you reflect on the wonderful adventure you’ve had with us.

You’ll be transferred back to the airport, and we look forward to seeing you again!

Sky Cabins are located at the top of the Ski Resort, they have large windows and a big skylight that give you an amazing views of the Nordic nature and the starlit sky from the comfort of your own bed.
The glass walled sky cabins can accommodate upt op 2 adults and 2 children (up to 15 years) or 3 adults in a double bed and a sofa bed,

The Sky Cabins are equipped with twin beds, a kitchen and a dining table, ensuite bathroom, a separate alcove with a sofa bed for kids and a drying cabinet for your outdoor clothes.

Restaurants and the Sauna World & Spa are within a walking distance or you can conveniently reach your Sky Cabin on the ski lift.

A minibus can give you a fast and comfortable ride back after you enjoy dinner at the restaurant.

The ski resort and accommodation are run entirely on renewable energy, helping to preserve the environment and maintain it for future generations. Our activities are run by local families who have been reindeer farmers and husky sledders in the area for many years.

When can I go?

The winter season starts 1st December and finishes at the end of March

Will there be enough snow in December to run the activities?

Our winter packages start on the 1st December and by this time there should be enough snow, however there is no guarantee. Kainuu region regularly has one of the highest snow falls in Finland due to its location amidst the highest ridges of Arctic Lakeland

In the unlikely event that there isn't enough snow, the activities will still run but as an Autumn variation.

What ages do the child prices apply to?

Child pricing applies to ages 3-14 years. Ages of 15+ will be classed as an adult

Is thermal clothing provided for guests?

Yes, thermal overalls and boots are included in all our packages for the duration of your stay.

When will I do all of my activities?

Upon check in at your resort you will be given your full schedule of exciting activities.

Are there any additional facilities available on-site at the resort?

Yes, the resort offers a range of additional facilities to enhance your stay. Guests can hire snowshoes, arctic skis and fat bikes and se the bowling alley for an extra charge. They can also enjoy unlimited use of the saunas, jacuzzis and pool in Sauna World free of charge. Ski equipment (skis poles , boots and helmets) are available to hire by the day, along with lift passes.

Is there free WIFI in the room?

Yes, you have free WIFI in your room.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

CHECK-IN
The resort does everything possible to have your room ready by 3pm.
At check-in, the resort requires a quick look at the passport or national ID of the person in whose name the room is booked, as well as their credit card.

CHECK-OUT
The resort kindly asks guests to check out by 11 am. The staff will happily look after your luggage on that day if you have a later flight. You are also welcome to request a late check out , and to enjoy the resort facilities until the last moment.

When are the meals served?

In the main restaurant breakfast is served every day from 8am to 10am.
The a la carte restaurant is open daily from 12 noon until 8pm and on Friday and Saturdays until 10pm.
The cafe bar is open daily between 10am and 5pm, Fridays and Saturdays until 8pm.

Do you offer vegetarian or vegan options in the restaurant?

The resort provides a range of vegetarian and vegan options on the restaurant menu to cater to all dietary preferences.

The menu includes a variety of delicious plant-based dishes that are sure to satisfy. Whether you’re a vegan, vegetarian, or simply looking for a healthy meal option, they have something for you. Please let us know if you have special dietary requirements.

Do the Sky Cabin Glass suites provide privacy?

The sky glass walled Cabins provide excellent privacy, ensuring that you can enjoy a perfect panoramic view of the northern sky without any interruptions. The wall to ceiling glass windows are equipped with thick curtains for privacy, when you need it.

My package includes Snowmobiling, do I need a driving licence and can my child come too?

Snowmobile activities at the resort require a valid driver’s license, along with acceptance of the liability policy and agreement. Children under 12 are not permitted to ride snowmobiles and will instead be seated in a sleigh to accompany the safari. Parents or guardians are responsible for the safety of any minors in their care during these activities.

The snowmobiles and the guest as the snowmobile driver or passenger are covered by the resorts insurance. The driver is responsible for the vehicle with damage liability of max. €1200 per snowmobile per accident.

What time do the ski lifts open and close?

During the winter season they are open at 10am and they close at 7pm Mon - Sat (10am - 5pm on Sundays)

What is the difference between the Chalets Apartments and the Superior Chalet Apartments?

The Chalets Apartments have one large bedroom with two twin beds and a smaller bedroom with bunk beds. Whereas the Superior Chalet Apartments have two large bedrooms both containing two twin beds.
