What you'll do

Overview

Embark on an amazing adventure in Lapland. Visit a Husky Farm and enjoy a sledge pulled safari, get the chance to see the Northern Lights as well as touring the snow covered landscape by snow mobile.

Your trip will start with a transfer from Rovaniemi airport to your accommodation at Santa’s Hotel Aurora in Luosto. You will have the chance to relax before starting this unique Lapland family holiday the next day.

You will visit a Husky farm and learn all about the use of huskies in Finland. Not only will you be able to play with the adorable pups but you will then get the chance to go on a safari in a sledge pulled by huskies through the snow covered forest.

You’ll also get to explore the area by getting a little further afield on snowmobiles, drinking in the incredible scenery that is so far removed from what we’re used to at home. Gliding through the impossibly still forest and the crisp, clear Lapland air is exhilarating, and you’ll come across some of the most beautiful natural landscapes anywhere in Finland.

You will also get the chance to see the breathtaking Northern Lights with a local guide who will take you to the best spot so see this natural phenomenon.

*From price is based on two people in a standard room with fireplace or sauna or Superior Room with Sauna.

A full example itinerary is detailed below, activity timings can differ slightly, your own personal schedule will be given to you upon check in.

Arrival

You will be greeted by a driver and transferred from Rovaniemi airport to your hotel.

Take time to relax, take a walk into the village and get your bearings, enjoy a delicious dinner and maybe  take a look for the Northern Lights, before your adventure really begins tomorrow.

Husky Farm and Safari

Today, you will be visiting a husky farm where you will learn all about huskies and just how important they are to the Finnish people. You will start the day with breakfast again before being taken to the husky farm.

A local will guide you around the farm, where you will learn all about huskies and how to use them to pull a sledge as well as hearing some stories about the dogs. Following this, you will embark on a 10km husky ride where you can use the mushing skills you would have learnt to guide the dogs around the beautiful snowy landscape.

You will then return to the hotel where you will have dinner and have some time to relax by the fire or enjoy some well earned relaxation time in the sauna.

Snowmobile Ride and Northern Lights

After a buffet breakfast at the hotel, you will embark on an exciting 2 Hour snowmobile ride around the snow covered forests of Luosto.

You will be taught how to operate the snowmobiles and taken through all the safety precautions before being able to drive them yourself. There will be chances to stop and admire the stunning views as well as changing the driver so everyone can have a go.

After dinner you will head off on your Northern Lights tour. The tour takes you in the beautiful snowy landscapes of wilderness, where there is no light pollution and a good possibility to see the Northern lights. Before the tour we will plan our destinations carefully by checking local weather forecast, cloudiness and northern lights activity data.

We will make a campfire and you hear interesting facts about Northern lights, Lappish nature and history. Your local guide will also give you information about how to photograph Northern lights and help you to take the most amazing images to treasure.
