  • The Magic of Christmas in Lapland

The Magic of Christmas in Lapland

Lapland, a place where the spirit of Christmas isn’t just alive for a day, but thrives all winter long. The official home of Santa and a true winter wonderland.

Located in the Arctic Circle, every winter Lapland transforms into a real-life snow globe. The landscape is blanketed with a layer of pristine white snow, broken only by the pine trees that sparkle in the soft arctic light, this is where Christmas begins. But Lapland’s Christmas magic extends beyond Santa. The region’s indigenous Sami people add their own unique traditions to the festivities. Their colourful clothing, reindeer herding culture, and ancient stories add depth to the Christmas experience.

As night falls, the Northern Lights ignite the sky in a beautiful dance, while you sit, sipping hot chocolate in a cosy igloo. From husky sledding through snowy forests to warming up in traditional Finnish saunas, Christmas in Lapland offers a truly magical experience that captures the essence of the season like nowhere else on Earth.

Things to do on a Lapland Christmas holiday

You’ve decided to visit Santa’s home but you’re wondering what to do there. Here are our favourite things to do in Lapland on a Christmas adventure.

Without question, meeting Santa is top of the list. Whether meeting him in his grotto, in his home or in your home, it’ll be a magical experience. Remember, write a little letter about your children and hand it over to reception when you arrive so Santa can give you a truly personal experience.

As well as Santa, you can also meet all his amazing helpers. You can visit the reindeer farm and feed them, or maybe even go on a little sleigh ride. There is also the chance to meet Santa’s elves, who’ll give you a truly magical Christmas experience.
