Sustainability Efforts

What our hosts are developing to achieve sustainable travel

Our hosts have introduced recycling facilities in all cabins and discontinued the use of plastic water bottles in all accommodation units. Guests are provided with environmentally friendly options to explore the local Lappish nature, including snowshoes, cross-country skis, toboggans, and kick-sledges, as well as rental bicycles (fatbikes). Hiking, biking, and skiing trails start directly from the hotel, and our hosts provide detailed information about these paths and tracks at reception. The resort collaborates with local companies and operators such as Hotel Ivalo, Club Nord Stable, Souvenir Shop Livva, local safari companies, constructors, and reindeer farms. To support the wellbeing of local cultures and languages, our hosts work with Sami representatives to familiarise guests and staff with Sami traditions and heritage. Additionally, the resort promotes biodiversity in the surrounding nature through initiatives like birdhouses, insect hotels, and salt stones. Efforts are also made to ensure the wellbeing and expertise of the staff, fostering a positive and knowledgeable environment. This resort was the first destination in the Northern Lapland region to receive the Green Key international environmental award (August 2020)

What our travellers are saying...

Phenomenal. We absolutely loved it! What a unique experience, one we will always remember. Staying in Ivalo instead of the more touristy Rovaniemi is one of the best decisions we made on our trip, and we’re so glad we chose here! The property is gorgeous, with great access to views and nature trails. The cabins are beautiful, everything perfectly clean, our bed was very comfortable, and of course the ability to sleep under the stars (and northe

The glass roofed cabins were amazing. Watching the northern lights from bed. The staff could not have been more helpful and professional. We did the dog sledding, reindeer sleigh, ice go karting, reindeer feeding and the jacuzzi. It could have been on another planet. And to top it off the meals were excellent. We also saw the lights two of the four nights. Could not recommend highly enough. Thank you.

A beautiful village just outside of Ivalo with cabins that have half the roof made of glass so you can see the auroras on a clear night, and reindeer on the property that can be fed at designated feeding times for a fee. The cabins themselves are small, but cozy and the showers have hot water (but only for about ten minutes). There's also ice "swimming" and a typical outdoor Finnish sauna where you need to heat the fire yourself! Dinner and bre
