What you'll do

Overview

Embark on an unforgettable wilderness adventure, a winter wonderland in Northern Lapland. Blissful relaxation, adrenaline-pumping outdoor adventures and the world's greatest natural wonder make this an unforgettable trip with the best chance of seeing the Northern Lights.

Your adventure begins the moment you touch down in Ivalo airport, where you’ll be picked up and transferred to your beautiful accommodation. Nestled in the snow-covered pine forest by Lake Inari, your accommodation allows uninterrupted views of the dark sky of the polar night.

Take part in thrilling activities, from rushing along snow-covered tracks and frozen fells on a husky sled, to exhilarating snowmobiling escapades across the expansive wilderness. By nightfall, savour the serenity of your lake or forest view accommodation and witness the enchanting Northern Lights gracefully dancing above.

Of course, searching for the northern lights is about being in the right place at the right time. Fortunately, you’ll be in exactly the right place, at the right time of year, accompanied by some of the best northern lights hunters in the world, maximising your chances of ticking off the ultimate bucket list moment.

Your accommodation is in lovely log cabins, villas or luxury glass roofed igloos which can accommodate from 4 – 8 people. If you haven’t found the right accommodation to suit your group size we have alternative options in rooms, suites and unforgettable Aurora Cabins.

*Based on 4 people (two adults & two children) travelling from 28th Nov- 11th December or March

A full example itinerary is detailed below, activity timings can differ slightly, your own personal schedule will be given to you upon check in.

Arrival Day

You will arrive into Ivalo airport, where you will be met and taken directly to your accommodation. Drive through the ethereal pine forest, and arrive at your accommodation, nestled within the still, white forest.

Take some time to settle in, unpack or explore, then you can enjoy a delicious dinner in the restaurant.

You will be staying in a beautiful cabin, which provides panoramic surroundings of this winter wonderland and the ink black polar night sky. With any luck, you’ll be able to witness the spectacle of the Northern Lights on your very first night in Lapland.

Snowmobiling and Aurora Camp

Today your morning activity is perfect for those who have never tried snowmobiling before. First you will get familiar with the snowmobile, have full safety instructions and a driving lesson. After everyone feels comfortable, we will head out for a small journey into the beautiful Lappish countryside. Children will be sitting in a sleigh pulled behind the guide’s snowmobile.

Back to the resort for a generous and well deserved Lunch, enjoy a relaxing break – maybe try a Finnish sauna (bookable locally) and take a break before the afternoon’s Aurora experience!

This activity takes you to the amazing forest surroundings. You will be comfortably seated in a sledge that is pulled by the guide’s snowmobile. This way you can enjoy the northern sky as you travel through the wilderness arriving at the aurora camp where there is a hut with a roaring open fire to warm you up on a cold night of Aurora hunting. Pancakes will be prepared on the open fire, and there will be warm drinks. The camp has a minimum amount of light pollution, so it is perfect for viewing the Northern Lights that will hopefully show up in the sky.

Husky Safari

Today, after a hearty breakfast you will set out on a husky safari, swishing through the silent, snow-covered forest on your own private sleigh.

Meet the beautiful, energetic dogs that will take you exploring through the glistening wilderness, on a safari you are sure never to forget. The dog sled is shared by two people who can take turns driving the sled whilst the other sits back and enjoys the ride and the scenery. Jump on a sled and enjoy the thrill of dashing through the snow at speed!

The Husky experience will take approximately 3hrs (1.5-2hrs in the sleigh ) which will give you the afternoon at your leisure. Why not rent Snowshoes or Cross Country Ski’s to explore the trails and paths that snake through this untouched, pristine part of the world and discover dramatic fells, hidden clearings and frozen lakes.

Activity timings may differ slightly, your confirmed schedule will be given to you upon check in.

Meet the Reindeer and Aurora Snowshoeing

Step into the timeless traditions of Northern Finland with an enchanting encounter with reindeer, the region’s most iconic inhabitants. This guided experience invites you to immerse yourself in the captivating world of reindeer herding—a practice deeply interwoven with the history and culture of the Sámi people. As your guide shares stories of this ancient way of life, you’ll gain a profound appreciation for the bond between the Sámi community and their majestic companions.

Experience the magic of connecting with these gentle creatures up close. Watch as their curious nature unfolds, and enjoy the rare delight of feeding them directly from your hand. Surrounded by the pristine wilderness, this encounter offers a soul-stirring glimpse into the harmony between humans and the natural world—a moment to treasure in the serene beauty of Finland’s snowy landscapes.

As the day transitions into night, lace up your snowshoes and set off on a thrilling adventure to chase the elusive Northern Lights. Guided by expert insight and the hushed allure of the Arctic wilderness, you’ll walk beneath a vast, starry sky in search of the shimmering auroras. This unforgettable evening combines the serenity of snowshoeing with the awe-inspiring spectacle of nature’s most breath-taking light show.

Farewell

Today is your final morning in Lapland. Wake up at a leisurely time  (check-out isn’t until 11am), and enjoy a final breakfast by the log fire as you reflect on the wonderful adventure you’ve had here.

We’ll transfer you back to the airport, and look forward to seeing you again!
