Overview

Head to the Arctic Circle for a truly unforgettable adventure in Lapland, where you will venture out into the epic wilderness on husky safaris, sleep in a unique ice hotel, and witness nature's greatest light show, the Aurora Borealis.

You’ll be picked up directly from Rovaniemi airport, then taken directly to your incredible snow hotel accommodation for the first night of your Lapland experience. The Arctic Snow Hotel is a beautifully crafted hotel made entirely from ice, and carved each year into illuminated rooms and artworks, making for a stay to remember.

After a night sleeping on a bed of snow and ice, you will then spend the rest of your stay in a cosy, glass igloo. These igloos afford you views of the night sky and, if you’re lucky, the Northern Lights all from the comfort of your own bed.

By day, feel the thrill of exploring the snow-covered pine forests behind a team of energetic huskies as you speed your way through this winter wonderland, and by night, venture out on an e-Sled safari designed to take you far from any light pollution for the very best view of the Northern Lights.

With all your activities seamlessly organised and led by our expert local hosts, you will simply be able to relax and drink in the magical winter landscape of Lapland, and leave with precious memories of this beautiful corner of the world.

Arrival Day

When you touch down at Rovaniemi airport, your transfer be waiting to take you directly to your first incredible accommodation. Drive through the ethereal pine forest, and arrive at the stunning ice hotel, carved each year into new a completely new appearance, with new, gently illuminated artworks creating a magical atmosphere from the moment you step inside.

The temperature inside sits at anywhere between 0-5 degrees, despite the weather outside. After check-in, your guide will give you a tour of the hotel, during which you will receive instructions for sleeping overnight in total comfort, for a genuine once-in-a-lifetime experience.

The warm Arctic sleeping bags you will receive are of high quality with fleece linings, so along with your recommended warm layers, you will be able to spend of night of comfort on your bed of ice and snow.

 

Winter Wonderland Adventures

Wake up to a hot drink in your snow hotel room, then check-out and transfer to your accommodation for the remainder of your adventure in Lapland. Take a moment to settle into your beautiful glass igloo, drinking in the views of snow-covered pine forest.

Once you have settled in, meet your guide for the day who will lead you on an unforgettable adventure through the Lappish wilderness, as you travel in a manner used by the locals for thousands of years.

On a husky safari through the forest and across open fells, you’ll be experiencing a piece of truly authentic local tradition, as well as getting up close and personal with these beautiful animals in their element as you race across the snow.

Take some time to relax in the traditional Finnish sauna or simply take a break in your cosy cabin, before you begin an evening excursion to see the Northern Lights at their very best.

Join your guide on an e-sled, as they take you deep into the Arctic wilderness and far from any light pollution, using their local knowledge to help you spot this beautiful natural phenomenon.

 

Reindeer Farm Visit

Start your day with a hearty breakfast at the site restaurant, getting yourself fuelled and ready for a day of getting out into the wilderness and getting in touch with the nature it hosts.

Visit a reindeer farm and immerse yourself in the local culture of the region by learning about and understanding these gentle animals that are so central to a Lappish way of life, then set off on a reindeer ride through the forest and drink in the beautiful views of frozen forest and lakes.

Spend the rest of the day at your leisure, making the most of all the site has to offer or simply cosying up in your igloo as night draws in and the Northern Lights (hopefully!) start to shimmer.

 

 

Departure Day

Today, enjoy a final breakfast and then check out of your igloo.

One night in Superior Snow Hotel room. This spectacular attraction is carved each year to be different in appearance. The walls and furniture surfaces of the unique rooms are decorated with ice art and illuminated artwork.
Superior rooms are are available in double, triple and family categories. The beds have normal mattresses with soft bed covers on top of them but the bed frames are made of ice. The room temperature is 0–5C°, but using the sleeping bags intended for extreme conditions, you can be sure you will stay in warmth and comfort. As the temperature inside is all the time between 0 and -5C degrees and the guests are sleeping in sleeping bags, only one night stay is recommended as you get the once-in-a-lifetime experience already after one night. A Snow Hotel room does not have its own, separate toilets and showers but there is a shared toilet close to the hotel rooms, inside Snow Hotel.

The glass-roofed igloos provide you the opportunity to sleep beneath the starry skies and the Northern Lights. Even though this far north, the appearance of the Northern Lights can never be guaranteed. However, sleeping under a 360º glass roof multiplies your chances of seeing the renowned Aurora Borealis. Each igloo is extremely well heat insulated to ensure guests are not bothered by the cold in even the coldest of times at night – the temperature is the same as in normal hotel rooms. The roof of the igloo is made from electrically heated glass, which means the glass will not cool the space; rather it maintains evenly distributed warmth while melting the snow and ice off the roof to give you excellent view to the sky. There are two twin beds and due to the motorization feature of the beds they can’t be set as a double bed. A third bed can be added.

Location

Arctic SnowHotel & Glass Igloos  is located deep in the quiet wilderness of the Lapland region, 30km from Rovaniemi.

The transfer time from Rovaniemi is around half an hour drive.

Far north of the Arctic Circle, the area you’ll be staying in is a vast expanse of pristine pine forest that is home to bears, golden eagles, wolverines, and thousands of reindeer.

The restaurant, Snow hotel, saunas, snowmobile areas are all right in the resort, along with cosy cabins with electric fires and glass roofs. The cabins are lined by uninhabited fells and forests.

When can I go?

Trips run all through the winter season from 15th December to late March.

How cold is it during the night in the SnowHotel?

The temperature is at all times between 0 and -5C degrees inside Arctic SnowHotel but the temperature can be even -35C degrees outside!

Is staying at Arctic SnowHotel in temperature below zero degrees a risk to my health?

The resort provide extremely warm sleeping bags which ensure that you will stay warm through the night. This overnight is not a risk to your health even if you are pregnant or have any other health issues. Please contact us if you are unsure and wish to receive more information.

How many nights is included in the Snowhotel?

The package includes one night in a snow room in the Snowhotel. The other two nights will be in a Glass Igloo.

What night will I being staying in the SnowHotel?

This will be subject to availability but we will request that your first night will be to experience the night in the snow room.

Will I be woken up when the Aurora Borealis are visible?

Yes! You will be alerted via the in-cabin tablet (you can also turn this off).

How far is the accommodation from the airport?

Your package includes return, shared transfers from Rovaniemi Airport which is 30min from the resort.

How big are the Glass Igloos?

Group sizes of 1-3 with be based in a standard Glass Igloo. 20m² in size and suitable for 1-3 persons. Each glass igloo has its own toilet and shower as well as refridgerator, electric kettle, hairdryer. There are two twin beds as due to the motorization feature of the beds there can’t be a double bed. Third bed can be added as an extra bed.

Group sizes of 4 adults with be based in a Family Glass Igloo. 33m² in size and suitable for 1-5 persons. Each glass igloo has its own toilet and shower as well as refridgerator, electric kettle, hairdryer. There are 4 single beds in the igloo as due to the motorization feature of the beds there can’t be a double bed.

When can I use the sauna?

This is a traditional Finnish mixed sauna, available for men & women daily at 21.00 – 23.00.

Is the SnowHotel really made of ice?

This SnowHotel is one of the biggest in the world, and sleeps about 70 guests. This spectacularly handsome attraction and landmark, opens on 15th December and is carved each year out of ice to be different in appearance. The walls and furniture surfaces of the unique rooms are decorated with ice art and illuminated artwork.
