Please note: Whilst all the activities mentioned will be included in your trip, the order of the activities may vary and your personal itinerary with be given to you on arrival.

Arrival

On arrival in Rovaniemi you will be collected and taken by private transfer to your hotel. There you have free time to explore your surroundings, the breathtaking snowy landscape, and get your bearings. Enjoy local drinks or a meal at the restaurant and experience your first taste of lappish hospitality and delicious Lappish cuisine.

Santa Claus Village and Reindeers

Today you will have the morning free so this is your chance to visit the man himself, Santa Claus! Take the short walk from your igloo to Spend time in Santa’s Village and enjoy the magical Christmas atmosphere. Spend as much time as you wish walking around and enjoying all that his village has to offer, you can see Santa’s post office where all the letters from children all over the world are sent, sorted and delivered, the elves workshop, many independent shops with Christmas souvenirs, Lappish crafts and of course Santa’s office, where you can go along and meet Santa Claus.

In the afternoon you will be collected for your visit to a local reindeer farm to meet the famous gentle Lappish creatures up close and explore the Taiga forest by sleigh on your reindeer safari (around 3 hours). Once you arrive with your guide to the farm, you will be invited to take your seat in the reindeer sleigh. The sleigh is suitable for adults and children to sit together and as you glide through the snowy forest and white scenery, you may spot some other arctic animals, or at least see their tracks in the snow. When you come back from the safari, which is around 2.5 kms, a warm cup of coffee or tea and traditional snacks will wait for you on the farm. The herder will explain all about their lifestyle and the tradition of reindeer husbandry in Lapland. This is the best time to ask questions and feed your curiosity! Before leaving and heading back to Rovaniemi, you may ask your guide to spend a bit more time in the farm if you would like to.

No-snow alternative:

Reindeer Farm Visit

Come and meet the most iconic animal of Lapland! Your guide will drive you in a small group (never more than 8 people) to one of the most traditional reindeer farms in Lapland. The family of reindeer herders are based just outside of Rovaniemi, Finland, on the lovely shores of a peaceful lake. From our perspective, they provide the best experience possible when it comes to both knowledge and service.

Husky Safari

After a buffet breakfast at your accommodation, you will be picked up for your husky safari. First of all you will be given warm clothing (recommended as it can be very cold during the safari), and then your guide will drive you to a lovely local husky farm, around 30 minutes drive from Rovaniemi set amongst the magical snowy forests and surrounding landscapes.

At the farm, you will be welcomed by the mushers and the excited barking of their lovely dogs. You will be introduced to your dog team and will be given the safety instructions and some tips how to drive the sleigh. Once ready, you will embark on your husky sled ride , two people per sleigh, dashing through the winter scenery for about 45 mins. You are always 2 adults maximum for the sleigh ride (one driving, and one passenger sitting in the sleigh) and you will have the opportunity to switch the driver and passenger halfway if you wish.

After the safari, the mushers will take time to share with you an insight into their life style, explain about the job of a musher, how they train their dogs and answer all your questions around an open fire. All the dogs are photo enthusiasts, so do not forget to bring your camera with you !

For all our activities the groups are limited to maximum 8 people, as it is important for us to provide you with the best experience as possible. This way, your guide will get to know you and will be able to address all your needs and answer your questions. We also strictly select our partners based on ethical and responsible principles, to promote a more authentic and respectful tourism in Lapland.

The husky safari experience will take approximately 2.5 hours.

The afternoon is free to play in the snow, or borrow a toboggan and thoroughly enjoy your time in this magical Christmas atmosphere.

No-snow alternative:

3 Hour Husky Cart Tour

Huskies are not born fit, it takes lots of preparation and conditioning before the dogs are as fit as they can be. Visit the kennel and get a feel for how the dogs are prepared to be the amazing athletes they are.

Our enthusiastic dogs will happily take you down the forest trail for an unforgettable experience.

Today, wake up for one more breakfast in the Lappish wilderness, before you check out and are transferred back to Rovaniemi airport.
