What you'll do

Overview

Experience the greatest natural show on earth, nestled in the wilderness of the Finnish backcountry, in a unique, first-class setting this Easter. Spend your days enjoying outdoor activities in the amazing snowy playground of Lapland, and your evenings gazing in awe at the brilliant colours of the Aurora Borealis.

The tour begins once you’ve been picked up from Ivalo airport, and taken to your luxurious Aurora Cabin to begin your three-day hunt for the Northern Lights.

Seeing this phenomenon in person is one that simply can’t be matched, as brilliant reds and greens burst across the inky black sky, brushing the deep fir forests.

In fact, The Northern Lights were thought to possess great magical power, which is why the ancient Sámi shamanic drums have dedicated patterns for controlling the flames of the sky, and when you see them for yourself can completely understand why man might resort to the supernatural as an explanation.

You’ll receive high-class accommodation in a cozy Aurora Cabin, the glass roof providing an expansive, panoramic view of the space above you. Enjoy a range of Lappish activities, including taking the kids on a reindeer ride and a wonderful husky safari.

You’ll also get to explore the area by getting a little further afield on a snowmobile, drinking in the incredible scenery that is just so far removed from what we’re used to at home.

Gliding through the impossibly still forest and the crisp, clear Lapland air is a hugely liberating feeling, and you’ll come across some of the most beautiful natural landscapes anywhere in Finland.

Satisfyingly wearied from a day of once-in-a-lifetime excursions, settle in for some delicious food prepared with only the purest ingredients from Lapland, served by a roaring, warming log fire and in the snug Lappi restaurant.

The entire Easter adventure in Lapland has been crafted with skill and passion so that you can enjoy this unforgettable experience totally, without compromising on comfort as you relax in the highest quality accommodation.

A full example itinerary is detailed below, activity timings can differ slightly, your own personal schedule will be given to you upon check in.

Escape to the Wilderness

When you touch down at Ivalo airport, we’ll be waiting there to transfer you directly to the incredible resort. Drive through the ethereal pine forest, and arrive at your very own luxury glass-roofed cabin, nestled within the still, white trees.

Take some time to settle in, unpack, or explore the site, then we’ll welcome you for a dinner in the cosy Lappi restaurant for a meal made with natural, local produce from the surrounding environment.

After dinner, the evening is yours to enjoy. You can choose to relax in front of a roaring log fire or even book a trip to see the Northern Lights:

Then head back to your warm cabin for a night of lying under the ink-black sky, gazing upwards through the clear window to catch a glimpse of the incredible Northern Lights.

Huskies & Reindeer

Start your day with a hearty breakfast, and prepare yourself for a day of activities that will allow you to truly get in touch with nature and experience true wilderness.

You’ll start the day with a reindeer express ride. Get up close and personal with these magnificent creatures, so central to Sami culture and symbolic of life in the far northern reaches of Finland.

Experience a ride in a sleigh from one of these gentle animals, and hiss through the silent trees and the pure, cold air.

You’ll also experience a wonderful husky ride through the forest, getting to know the boundless energy of the dogs before being able to get up close and personal with them.

You’ll have free access to the site’s sleds, snowshoes, skis and other equipment for the entire experience, so that you’re free to explore the trails and paths that snake through this untouched, pristine part of the world and discover dramatic fells, hidden clearings and frozen lakes.

Satisfyingly wearied and chilled from a day in the open, you’ll head for another warming, hearty dinner, warm your bones by an open fire, and spend the evening at your leisure, waiting for the spectacular Borealis to burn across the clear night sky.

Activity timings may differ slightly, your confirmed schedule will be given to you upon check in.

Accommodation:

The Aurora Cabins are a magical way to experience the wintry star-filled sky and the Northern Lights, while lying comfortably in the warm bed. The laser-heated glass-roof opens up into the northern sky, directly above the bed.

Snowmobile Safari

This full day will get you further out into the beautiful snowy wilderness of Lapland.

Embarking on a 2-hour snowmobile safari, you’ll explore pristine fells and silent, snow-covered forest, frozen lakes and rivers, and magnificent hillsides.

Your expert guide will help you get the hang of your snowmobile, then lead you on a stunning adventure around the part of the world that is one of Europe’s last remaining wild places.

Return and enjoy passing time at your leisure, drinking in your surroundings and enjoying great Finnish food.
