Come and discover the ancient Duchy of Gascony, in one of the most rural regions in south west France, just perfect for a painting holiday.
This is the real France that you thought didn’t exist anymore. Beautiful scenery and delicious local produce. The region is famous for its Armagnac, wine and hearty cuisine.
You will feel like you’ve stepped back in time to a gentler place. Single track roads that take you through imposing sweeping landscapes, impressive undulating fields of sunflowers and vineyards, lush grazing pastures dotted with wild flowers and hedgerows brimming with hawthorn and wild honeysuckle.
Pretty little villages punctuate the landscape, with their quintessential French charm. Flower boxes and terracotta plant pots overflow with geraniums. The pale yellow stone buildings are full of character and architectural delight.
The clear skies and consistent sunshine have attracted artists here for centuries, the unique ‘light’ of the region being one of the main attractions for painters.
You will stay in the magnificent Château de Goas, an historical French estate with foundations dating back to the Middle Ages. Enjoy the peace, serenity and beauty of this magical chateau with its beautiful forest and lake, ideal for a stroll after a day’s painting. There is also an onsite swimming pool.
The twelve elegantly decorated bedrooms each have an ensuite bathroom, and there are living rooms, a pool room, and a library perfect for relaxing. Daily tuition from the renowned artist Neil Pinkett and all meals with soft drinks and wine are included.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are chef prepared with locally sourced ingredients and there will be opportunity for wine and armagnac tasting at a local vineyard.
