Overview
Running from 14 June to 17 June 2024.
Residential 4-day workshop for singer-songwriters, staying in a beautiful house in France, with the legendary artist, producer and composer, Mike Batt
Mike Batt is one of Europe’s best-known and respected artists, his writing and production work encompassing TV, classical and pop music, movie scores, musicals, orchestral composition and conducting.
His catalogue of hits include the multi-million-selling ‘Bright Eyes’ – written for Art Garfunkel – ‘Caravan’ for Barbara Dickson, and ‘Nine Million Bicycles’ for Katie Melua, whom he discovered and managed for 10 years, selling 11 million Melua records on his own label.
As an accomplished arranger and conductor, he has achieved six internationally successful solo albums, has conducted many of the world’s greatest orchestras in a variety of classical and pop repertoire and has composed anthems at the request of the UK’s Royal Family. But he still finds time to work on an eclectic range of projects from films to heavy rock with bands like Hawkwind.
And, of course, to British fans he is terribly famous for creating the musical accompaniment for the children’s BBC TV series The Wombles, which led to his forming a Wombles pop group which had dozens of chart hits and four gold albums. Mike wrote, produced, arranged and sang as a member of the group and in 1974, the Wombles became the biggest-selling UK singles band.
This all-inclusive 4-day break contains 3 days of group instruction workshops, communal sessions, one-to-one tuition and advice from Mike, writing, performances and the bonus of an al fresco Batt gig in the house grounds.
