• Aurora glass-igloos – These Igloo rooms are the perfect way to experience the wintry, star-filled sky. We have a variety of Igloo-like rooms, with glass roofs that provide an excellent view of the Northern Lights. Our alcove and family glass-igloos are ideal for larger groups.
  
• Panorama Hut – These comfortable detached cabins are built from wood and have cosy wood panelled interiors with a large panoramic window overlooking the snowy forest. There is a double bed and the option for a third bed in most huts, so great for couples and small families.
  
• Riverside Cabin – Our detached log cabins have a great location by the river and come with a cosy living room, kitchen and two bedrooms as well as a sofa bed, accommodating up to 5 people so perfect for those larger groups.

What the Guidebooks Don’t Tell You

When to travel –
The ideal length of stay in Rovaniemi depends on your preferences, but most visitors find 3 to 5 nights to be perfect. This duration allows you to immerse yourself in the breathtaking Arctic landscape and experience a range of exciting activities. You’ll have time to enjoy thrilling husky sled rides, exhilarating snowmobile adventures, and most importantly, maximise your chances of witnessing the mesmerising Northern Lights. This timeframe offers a balance between experiencing the essence of Lapland and leaving you eager to return for more.

How to get there –
Getting to Rovaniemi is super easy. There are direct flights from Luton, Manchester, Birmingham and Edinburgh with Easyjet and from Stansted with RyanAir, from Gatwick with Easyjet and Norwegian, from Heathrow via Helsinki with Finnair and via Amsterdam with KLM into Rovaniemi. You can also get a train from Helsinki, which is a great way to travel and see more of the beautiful countryside. If you are able to get a train that’ll take you all the way to Rovaniemi with a few stops between at a few iconic destinations.

Keeping Warm –
Temperatures in Rovaniemi get quite low, so it is good to think about how you’ll stay warm. Our accommodation or activity provider will provide you with thermal outer clothes either for each of your activities or for the duration of your stay. ( Please check on the information page for your specific holiday) An outer thermal and waterproof all in one suit and warm waterproof boots will be provided along with gloves. Please make sure that you bring warm socks and hats, and extra gloves are always useful. You should bring thermal inner wear so that you are comfortable during your outdoor activities. If your outerwear is provided for your activities you will need warm waterproof outer layers in between your activities.

Activities beyond the ordinary

• Meet Santa – As Santa’s official home, you’ll be a short walk or shuttle from Santa’s village where you can do loads of fun Christmas activities and meet the man himself!
  
  
• Reindeer Sled – Visit the reindeer farm and meet the iconic Christmas animals with a chance to ride through the snow in a reindeer-drawn sled.
  
• Husky Sled – Meet the adorable working huskies that pull sleds along the snowy landscape. You can even hop on the sled and ride along the snow with them.
  
• Snowshoeing & Skiing – Wizz around Rovaniemi in your snowshoes or on one of the several ski lifts and runs (though this needs to be booked separately).
  
• Ice fishing – Your expert guide will show you how to cut a hole in the ice and fish in the traditional Sami way.
  
• Aurora hunting – Go on an expedition to witness the iconic Northern Lights. Whether by snowshoe or snowmobile, your guide will take you to all the best viewing spots.
