The ultimate Azores hike. You'll be taken to one of the most beautiful lakes and through a rich variety of landscapes by a local guide, who will ensure you see the very best trails on offer in this hiking paradise.
You’ll be picked up in Ponta Delgada at around 9 am, where you begin your journey on one of the most iconic hikes in the Azores. The hiking itself begins near the beach in Água d’Alto, and climbs uphill for the first two hours through a rich variety of fauna and flora.
Take in the magnificent Fogo Lake, which occupies the bottom of a collapsed caldera, and soak in your surroundings with a light lunch upon arrival there.
The hike is around 12km (7.5 miles) long, and is considered a medium level hike due to the steady climbing for the first couple of hours or so. After you’ve enjoyed lunch at the highest point of the walk and in sight of the famous Fogo Lake, the trail winds downhill towards.
At the end of the hike, cool off by going for a swim in the idyllic Caloura Harbour, the perfect way to wash off any grime or sweat from the satisfying hike you’ve just completed.
Refreshed and dried off, you will then be taken back to Ponta Delgada in the late afternoon.
