Arrival Day (Monday)

The course starts on Monday and you should aim to arrive at around 14:00 when lunch will be served.

You will have time to settle into your accommodation and get to know your hosts and the small group for the week.

The house where you will be staying is a large family home with garden and swimming pool. The hosts live on the ground floor and on the first floor there are  2 independent double rooms,  with private bathrooms.

Once you have settled in,  welcome drinks will be served in the garden followed by lunch at about 14:00. 

Your first class will take place in the afternoon for around 3 hours. You will visit Miguel Ángel’s workshop, where he will explain the process of creating your pieces and talk about your ideas. As the groups are very small (max. 5 people), we adapt the tuition to each person’s experience. In your  spare time, you are welcome to enjoy the garden and swimming pool or go for a walk through the olive groves just 5 minutes from the house.

Continue your clay work and get to know your surroundings

Every day you will have a typical Andalusian breakfast at about 9:00, consisting of toasted artisan sourdough bread with extra virgin olive oil from Arjonilla, grated tomato and cheese or serrano ham. It is accompanied by coffee or tea and fresh seasonal fruit.

You will work at the studio with Miguel Ángel every day from 10:00 to 13:00 h. You will be alternating between working on the potter’s wheel and manual work with slabs, modelling and practicing decorative techniques.

Lunch will be served at about 14:00 and then there will be time to relax.

In the afternoon you can continue working in the studio on your own or participate in our cultural and touristic activities.

We will start with a guided tour of Arjonilla. Then there will be free time to stroll around the village, after this you will return to the house for a delicious home cooked dinner.

Pottery and Cultural visit

After breakfast, you will work in the studio with Miguel Ángel until 13:00.
And each day lunch will be served at around 14:00.

Today  we will visit the city of Linares or Úbeda and Baeza (depending on the time of the year).
In summer, when it is very hot  a visit to Linares is planned, this will be in the evening when it is a bit cooler. Outside the high summer months we will take a longer trip ,during the whole afternoon, to discover the wonderful renaissance cities if Ubeda and Baeza.

In the evening Dinner will be served at the house.

Pottery and Olive Oil Tasting

After breakfast you morning workshop will begin, and you will continue to work on your pieces with Miguel Angel until 1pm.

We will have lunch at about 14:00. 

Our meals are based on the traditional Mediterranean diet, which includes pulses, fresh fruit and vegetables, cereals, fish, lean meats and, of course, extra virgin olive oil produced in Arjonilla.

After some time  to rest, we will  visit an olive oil press in Arjonilla and have an olive oil tasting

If the weather is good we may eat outside in the garden.

Pottery and a visit to Arjona

After breakfast, you will continue to work on your pieces.

After lunch, there will be time for relaxing and then in the afternoon you will visit
Arjona, a beautiful town full of history and tradition, where there will be time for browsing the shops and walking leisurely through the cobbled streets, taking in the panoramic views over the olive groves.

You will return to the house for dinner.

Pottery Finishing touches and Free time to relax

Today you will have your last class in the morning, when you will complete the finishing touches to your work.

After lunch, served at the house, you will have a free afternoon to relax and take in the last rays of the sun, go for a walk or visit the village for some shopping.

Tonight you will have your last dinner together at the house.

Departure Day

Today you will depart after breakfast.

Your pieces will be fired and then shipped to you -so you can expect a parcel to arrive in the next couple of weeks and you can relive all your wonderful memories of your time living like a local in Andalucia.

Immerse yourself in the authentic Andalusia  and experience making  the ceramics of Arjonilla with your own hands, in a charming little village surrounded by olive trees which has a rich and protected pottery tradition.

In our 6-day courses, you will learn how to work the clay with different techniques and in addition you will discover the local and regional culture and gastronomy with us, a potter (Miguel Ángel) and a tour guide (Inma), in our house with beautiful views.

The most special part is that you will stay with us in our home, as if you were one of the family! Giving you the unique chance to discover our culture and way of life from the inside, with locals. Of course, you will also have your own privacy – all private bedrooms have their own bathroom.

We combine ceramic work with different cultural and touristic activities such as guided tours and olive oil tasting, and we adjust our programme seasonally.
