Holidays in Cuba

Overview

Holidays in Cuba are some of the most unique we’ve ever had. Cuba is an enigma that inspires with its beauty and personal charm. As a communist country, travel and catering are some of the only private ventures the locals can have, which makes travelling there so special. Cuba is a truly rewarding, joyful experience. Incredible hospitality, endless rum and endless sun. The sound of guitars are always drifting from street corners in the addictive Havana and sunsets that only exist in this part of the world.

Being a communist country is reflected in the beautiful old architecture, gorgeous old cars and houses that sit against some of the most stunning natural landscapes you can find. Everything from the food to the people is so unique to this country that you won’t find it anywhere else in the world. Being in the Caribbean means there is obviously no shortage of white sand beaches and beautifully warm seas.

Our itineraries are carefully curated to ensure that your visit supports the local community and people as well as being full of fun and adventure. Our local host Lucy and her team have been providing unforgettable experiences for over 20 years, so you’re in good hands with Not in the Guidebooks.

    Best Time to Visit Cuba

    General

High season, December-March & July-August. These months are when Cuba is busiest, December to March is the coolest time, while July to August is the hottest – Come at this time if you don’t mind higher prices and larger crowds.

Shoulder Season, April-June & November. April to May the weather is pretty sunny with occasional showers, ideal for travel for avoiding bigger crowds and getting better prices.

Low Season, August-October. This is when you’d have the lowest prices and fewest tourists, but it is also when you’re most likely to get storms and much more rain.

Top tips for holidays in Cuba

Plan for limited WiFi – Internist access isn’t great in Cuba, there are WiFi spots but just be prepared to be off your phone for a time while there.

Bring Pesos – Pesos is the currency that Cuba uses, and a lot of places here only accept cash to try to bring enough with you.

Learn some basic Spanish – It would be a great idea to learn some basic phrases to make communication easier with locals, to help connect more.

Don’t chat politics – Avoid political discussions, Cuba has a complex political history so be mindful that the locals might not want to talk politics with you.
